Unfortunately, the use of animals as a mode of transportation for Tourists is increasing and often causes big stress to the animals.
Above all in developing countries in which the basic needs of the human population are not guaranteed and therefore, the well-being of the animals is not a priority.

It is our duty as tourists to be more conscientious of the attraction of which we use.

We will visit the Vet clinic of SPANA in Marrakech, an animal protection organization which looks after the welfare of the horses and donkeys in Marrakech.  A city tour in a horse carriage, like in so many other towns of the world is a popular tourist attraction and an important source of income for many families. We will consult SPANA before, whether and where we can accept this offer.

On our trip through the desert we will also take a closer look at another very popular tourists attraction, riding on dromedaries. 

The highlight of our trip is a wonderful small hotel, in the midst of an unbelievable sea of gigantic sand dunes. We can meditate amongst millions of stars for our blue planet, take trips to the surroundings and get in contact with the local population. We will also visit a school and bring school material for the children.

ROUTE

Our trip begins in Marrakech on Saturday 6th of March 2010. Airport-Transfer to our hotel in Marrakech and a visit the Medina.

On Sunday we will visit the Vet-clinic of SPANA, the local society for the prevention of cruelty to animals and also visit Marrakech.

On Monday we will begin our trip early in the morning and cross the Atlas Mountains at the Tizi'n Tihcka. On our way to Tinerhir, where we will spend the night we will visit the Todra gulch.

On Tuesday morning we will continue our trip in the direction of Alnif, a miraculous journey through an authentic desert. We will pass through Maharch and arrive at our lovely small hotel in Ouzina, where we will remain till Friday. Several short trip possibilities in the surroundings will be offered during these days (included).

Then on Friday we will travel through Merzouga, Rissani, Quarzazate back to Marrakech.
The journey is very long, but extremely beautiful!
