SPANA -  a Moroccan Animal Protection Association

The Moroccan society for the prevention of cruelty to animals SPANA whose veterinary hospital we have visited on the first day of our trip from Marrakech to the desert performs an excellent work. To the numerous owners of horses and donkeys who cannot afford the treatment of her animals and their animals would be consecrated therefore to the death, SPANA offers a free treatment of her animals.

We also where particularly impressed of the high application for a change by educational programmes. On a daily base school classes visit the very well equipped educational centre and the veterinary hospital, horse owners are motivated by special certificate when treating their animals well. Also tourists can inform themselves through a metal plate on the carriage of the fact that the horses are well taken care of.

If even in Spain we sometimes think that our work is nothing else but a drop of water on a hot stone, then we can only imagine how many veterinary hospitals like this one it would need to really give all animals treatment.
